Stretching - Stretching is the activity of gradually applying tensile force to lengthen, strengthen, and lubricate muscles, often performed in anticipation of physical exertion and to increase the range of motion within a joint. Stretching is an especially important accompaniment to activities that emphasize controlled muscular strength and flexibility, such as ballet, acrobatics or martial arts.

PNF stretching - PNF stretching (“proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation”) is a form of stretching in which a muscle is alternatingly stretched passively and contracted. The technique targets nerve receptors in the muscles to extend the muscle length.

Anal stretching - Anal stretching is a practice used by some to train relaxation of the muscles of the anus. While some sources indicate that it has medical benefits, it is more commonly employed as training to more easily perform various forms of receptive anal sex.

Static stretching - Static stretching is used to stretch muscles while the body at rest. It is techniques that gradually lengthen a muscle to an elongated position (to the point of discomfort) and hold that position for 10-30 seconds.
